Caregiver Support Group

JFCS offers a variety of caregiver support groups to help adult children of aging parents learn about community resources and ways to balance their needs with those of aging relatives. One group meets at JFCS the fourth Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. For information contact Mauri Malka at (502) 452-6341 ext. 250 or mmalka@jfcslouisville.org.

 

Job Seekers Resource Group

Job seekers have the opportunity to meet other job seekers as well as learn basic job search skills from an experienced career advisor. For more information contact Jamie Goodpaster at (502) 452-6341 ext. 313, or click here for schedules (when available).

 

Affordable Homecare for Seniors

The JFCS Homecare Opportunities Program (HOP), funded by a grant from the Weinberg Foundation, can provide non-medical homecare aides for seniors at a reduced cost. To see if you qualify, contact Mauri Malka at (502) 452-6341 ext. 250 or Helen Hord at (502) 452-6341 ext. 226.

 

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Group   

A support group for anyone raising grandchildren or other relatives meets at Cochran Elementary, 500 W. Gaulbert Street, every fourth Thursday for a meal at 5:30 p.m., followed by a group meeting at 6 p.m. Childcare is available. Call Jo Ann Kalb at 452-6341 ext. 335 to RSVP for childcare and meal.

Another support group for anyone raising grandchildren or other relatives meets at JFCS, every third Monday at 2 p.m. Call Jo Ann Kalb at 452-6341 ext. 335 to RSVP or if you need further information.

 

Diabetes Support Group

This group is available for individuals with diabetes to have the chance to talk about having a chronic condition and share the ways they cope. The group is free to the public and will meet the third Monday of each month at 1:30 pm. Contact Jenny Schinke at (502) 452-6341 ext. 307.

Parkinson's Support Group

Friends of and people with Parkinson's will meet at JFCS the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 11 a.m. For more information, please email Marilyn Bornstein.

Non-medical Care for Seniors

Financial Literacy Coaching

Take charge of your personal finances and live within your means. Counselors will help you make sound financial decisions at every stage of your life, from childhood to retirement. For more information, contact Sally Hollingsworth at (502) 452-6341 ext. 240.

Post-Divorce Support Group

When your life gets turned upside down by a major life-changing event, such as a divorce, you find yourself in need of a new life plan. Post Divorce is a new beginning. If you would like to join this new support group, please contact Sally Hollingsworth at (502) 452-6341 ext. 240.
