Yoel recently purchased a used truck, using his savings and a loan from JFCS, to go into business as an independent long hauler. Yoel worked closely with JFCS' Multicultural Department over several weeks -- receiving training and hands-on technical assistance -- to arrange the truck purchase with a local dealer. His brother also bought a truck using the same kind of financing, in the same JFCS program. As you can see, Yoel is proud of his canary-yellow truck! -Gary Liebert

Above, our "big prize" winner from our Financial Fair: Gaston Mukaz was a prize winner at the Financial & Asset Building Fair held at JFCS on December 14th. Gaston is a client of JFCS and owns a microenterprise business in Louisville, selling African art. He is pictured with fair vendor Loise Kimama, from 5/3 Bank.

Cuban refugee Daniel Finales recently signed papers at JFCS to receive a loan for his trucking business. The loan was part of the refugee microenterprise program operated by JFCS and funded by the US Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). Lexington-based Community Ventures Corporation (CVC) services the loan program. With Daniel are Bob Heil of CVC, and Gary Liebert, JFCS' Micro Business Specialist.
